Sausage Scalloped Potatoes


These are absolutely scrumptious!  Here is the recipe.

Preheat oven to 350.

1lb breakfast sausage

1 large onion

1 cup heavy cream

1 1/2 cup broth of your choosing.  I used beef.

10 medium size potatoes washed and thinly sliced

parmesan cheese


salt and pepper to taste

Brown the sausage until pink is gone.  Thinly slice onion and potatoes.  Make cream sauce by adding 1/2 cup butter and three heaping tablespoons of flour, mix together.  Slowly add cream, about 1 cup, and broth about 1 1/2 cups.  Once this has come to a boil and thickened, remove from heat, and add parmesan cheese.  I truly just eyeball the cheese, but I think I added one cup, maybe a little more :).  Add salt and pepper to taste.  Now you assemble the potatoes.  Start by buttering the casserole dish, then add a little of the cream sauce to the bottom of the pan.


Layer the bottom with potatoes, then add the onions, then the sausage, then a little cream sauce.  Repeat process ending with the potatoes and the rest of the cream sauce.


Finally add about a cup of shredded cheddar cheese for extra measure.


Cook for about an hour an a half on 350.

Super good, and will change your life.  I promise.

Let me know if you try these.  Remember that I rarely measure anything while I am in the throws of cooking, so really eyeball the sauce for the consistency and flavor you want.
